Why Blog Elul: I AM JEWISH??

5780 Theme: I AM JEWISH

Last year, at Rosh Hashanah, Rabbi Rosenberg challenged the congregation to think about, what does the phrase “I am Jewish” mean to them?

Everyone was asked to write down their thoughts and feelings about what being Jewish means to them.   For some folks the answer is obvious, while others may never have given this question a moment of thought.   Have you thought about how you would answer?

During these seemingly never ending days of this pandemic, faith has been a comfort to so many.  For some, these times have allowed for more study, prayer, and reflection.  As we  prepare for 5781, the start of a new year, we  reflect on the words "I AM JEWISH."

What does being Jewish mean to you?

How would you answer someone if asked, "what does it mean to be Jewish?"

During the month of Elul, as we prepare for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, we reflect on the sacred words of members of our community who have shared their reflections on being Jewish.

We hope their reflections will inspire you this season as you prepare your heart and soul for the New Year!
